Department Graduate Assistantships
Each year the Department of Special Education funds several full-time and part-time graduate research and/or teaching assistantships. If you’d like to be considered for one of these positions, please complete and submit an application.

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Scholarships
The Department of Special Education works with the Council for Exceptional Children to share opportunities for scholarships for our students.
Additionally, the department hosts a chapter of the Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC), which further supports several awards and scholarships.
- Graduation Awards
- To encourage professional membership in CEC and provide support for expenses incurred while in school, CEC awards two graduation stipends, one to an undergraduate and one to a graduate CEC student member upon completion of their education.
- Must be a member of Student CEC
- Application packets must be postmarked by Nov. 1.
- CEC Ethnic Diversity Student Scholarship
- Each year CEC awards a scholarship to a culturally diverse CEC student member who has made outstanding contributions to CEC and to exceptional children.
- Must be a member of Student CEC
- CEC/CEC Black Caucus Scholarship
- Each year the CEC Black Caucus of Special Educators awards a scholarship to a CEC African American student member who is currently pursuing a degree in special education.
- Must be a member of Student CEC
- Dabney Award
- Outstanding undergraduate student member from Missouri
- Must be a member of Student CEC
- Applications usually due in January
