College of Education Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that our virtual site visit conducted on October 25-27, 2020, by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) was very positive. Our teacher education, school counseling, school psychology, and PK-12 leadership programs that lead to state licensure were part of the accreditation review process.
The site visit team was impressed with our work and noted a number of program strengths. We anticipate receiving final approval for CAEP accreditation around April 2021, when the site visit team’s recommendations are reviewed by the CAEP Accreditation Council.
National accreditation is a critical component of the continuous improvement process, and this is only a part of our continuous improvement efforts. Accreditation allows us to reflect on strengths and areas for improvement, enhance our reputation among peers, and attract prospective students to the college.
I want to thank the more than 120 faculty, professional staff, students, alumni, and district partners who participated in site visit interviews. We would also like to thank the site visitors for providing an important outside perspective through the interviews.
