The Professional Staff Council would like to congratulate the September Porter Graham Staff Excellence Award recipient: Lauralyn Fry! Lauralyn is a Senior Business Support Specialist for Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) as well as Heart of Missouri Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC)
Bob Simpson’s nomination
Lauralyn is the embodiment of values of the College of Education and possesses a strong work ethic and collegial manner as represented in her recent volunteer work with the Carter Center to conduct their virtual conference. Lauralyn goes above and beyond in her professional growth, taking many of the MU D/I offerings, and most recently, taking several courses in continuous process improvement and encouraging others in our department to do the same. Lauralyn always takes what she learns and offers suggestions for how to improve our work processes or environment, and has been asked to help others to adopt some of these practices in their departments. Since our workforce is remote, she assists the Director in facilitating communication and collaboration with each other and our schools.
Sherri Thomas’s nomination
Lauralyn supports the University of Missouri professionally in all her collaboration with Heart of Missouri staff and all of our Region 2 schools. She is an extremely hard worker and knowledgeable concerning Heart of MO Regional Professional Development Center funding and professional development. She is able to juggle many different specialized areas with ease. Lauralyn always answers email and phone requests immediately and has had many compliments from schools for her effective and efficient help. We count on her in many ways and she is responsible for our smooth transitions in training sites and other changes. If you have not had the chance to, go to her office – check it out!! Lauralyn cares and is shows. Lauralyn is the epitome of what the Porter Graham Staff Award is all about.
Established by former Interim Dean Rose Porter, the Porter Graham Staff Excellence Award celebrates the dedication, resolve, leadership, and overall excellence of individuals making significant contributions to the MU College of Education. Rose Porter has always been a strong advocate for staff, noting that “they keep the place running.” Jill Williams-Graham (M ED 1990) and her husband Dr. Steven Graham, Sr. Associate Vice-President, UM System, joined Dr. Rose Porter and her husband Dr. Michael Porter, recognizing the immense impacts staff have in the running of the college.
