Jason embodies the values of the College of Education. Continuous Improvement by taking classes while working full-time; Innovation by revamping the entire scholarship process for the College; Student engagement and success by working directly with students and donors on scholarship awards, thank you process, scholarship brunch, etc; Diversity and cultural competence by the thoughtfulness with which he approaches everyone and every situation, utilizing empathy and sensitivity in ways to lift up and empower everyone he meets; Community and collaboration by working with numerous stakeholders within the College, campus, alumni, friends, and donors to move the College forward and increase our national ranking; Equity by advocating for programs that provide access. Established by former Interim Dean Rose Porter, the Porter Graham Staff Excellence Award celebrates the dedication, resolve, leadership, and overall excellence of individuals making significant contributions to the MU College of Education. Rose Porter has always been a strong advocate for staff, noting that “they keep the place running.” Jill Williams-Graham (M ED 1990) and her husband Dr. Steven Graham, Sr. Associate Vice-President, UM System, joined Dr. Rose Porter and her husband Dr. Michael Porter, recognizing the immense impacts staff have in the running of the college.
