Townsend Hall AED and Bleed Kit Information

The College of Education purchased the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment after a group of staff members (Shawna Nichols, Jessica White, Tristan Halper, and Caitlin Rosbach) successfully completed the certification training in May. The University supplied the “Stop the Bleed” kit that are placed next to all AED boxes on campus. Both emergency items have been installed in the lower level of Townsend Hall beside the Emergency Alert Beacon in the middle of the building.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) – The four staff members mentioned above participated in the American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED course through the MU Shelden Clinical Simulation Center. Those in the College who have also taken an AHA Heartsaver CPR AED program within the last 2 years would also be certified to use the device.

“Stop the Bleed” (Bleeding Control) Kits – Kits to deal with bleeding emergencies before professional help arrives. The four staff members mentioned above as well as Megan Wilkinson took this training. MU Health Care’s Injury Prevention and Trauma Services team offers 45 minute training sessions to groups. Organizer is Kassie Campbell CampbellKR@health.missouri.edu
