Welcome to the 2019-20 academic year! It is wonderful to see so much activity back on our campus. The College of Education orientations for new undergraduate and graduate students were huge hits! It is exciting to see our enrollments and academic programs thriving. The slides from our annual picnic demonstrate some of our impressive accomplishments from this past year. The slides also list new employees. I hope you will take the opportunity to welcome them to the college, our campus, and our community.
This past week Nanci Johnson sent an email complimenting the LAPS team for their professionalism and dedication to ensure the IT needs of the college are met across 7 buildings in Columbia. Nanci’s email reminded me of the power of compliments. Everyone works so hard, and we don’t always take the time to recognize and acknowledge others, especially when workloads are heavy and deadlines are looming. I hope everyone will facilitate a culture of compliments this year so that everyone feels acknowledged and valued.
Thank you to all of you who attended the College of Education picnic and Tiger Walk yesterday. Pictures are posted here.
I look forward to seeing you at the Open Houses on August 28 and the College-wide meeting on September 12.
