Whitley Melton

Whitley Melton is a Literacy Coach for the Heart of Missouri Regional Professional Development Center.

A former elementary educator, special education case manager and reading specialist, Whitley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Middle School Social Studies from Hannibal-LaGrange University, as well as a Masters Degree in Special Reading Instruction. Additionally, Whitley received her Specialist Degree in Elementary and Special Education Administration from William Woods University.

As a part of the Literacy Team, Whitley provides large group training and small group and individual coaching surrounding the Science of Reading, evidence-based literacy practices, and data-centered decision making for instruction.

In addition, Whitley is a trained LETRS facilitator and provides coaching support for participants around the Bridge to Practice portfolio work portion of the LETRS training.

Whitley resides in Hallsville, with her husband (also an educator) and their young son.
