Bio

Dr. Sarah Diem is an Associate Professor, Director of Graduate Studies, and PhD Program Coordinator in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri. She is also a Faculty Affiliate in the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs. Her research focuses on the sociopolitical and geographic contexts of education, paying particular attention to how the politics and implementation of educational policies affect outcomes related to equity and diversity within public schools. She is also interested in the ways in which future school leaders are being prepared to address race-related issues that may affect the diverse students and communities they are called to serve. Dr. Diem received her Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Planning from The University of Texas at Austin. Her research efforts have been recognized by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division A (Administration, Organization, & Leadership) through her receipt of the 2014 Emerging Scholar Award and the 2011 AERA Districts in Research and Reform Special Interest Group Outstanding Dissertation Award for her dissertation, “Design Matters: The Relationship between Policy Design, Context, and Implementation in Integration Plans Based on Voluntary Choice and Socioeconomic Status.”
