Renee Stites Kruep is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum at the University of Missouri. She earned her Ph.D. from Saint Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction and has three degrees (M.A. English, M.A. Education, B.A. English) from Truman State University. She primarily teaches graduate level literacy courses for Missouri Online and is also the coordinator of the online master’s in literacy education program.
Dr. Kruep draws on over a decade of classroom experience teaching middle and high school English as well as several curriculum revision committees and professional development leadership roles. An NCTE, ILA, NWP, ALAN, and AERA member, she is current in the English and literacy teacher education fields where she actively seeks new ways to improve and enhance her teaching methods for herself and her students through Self-Study of Teaching and Teacher Education Practices (S-STTEP).
Her academic interests include sustaining teachers through quality professional learning, integrating reading and writing instruction, and using inclusive young adult literature to inspire adolescent readers.
Dr. Kruep is an editorial review board member for the National Council of Teachers of English journal Voices in the Middle and The ALAN Review.
