Michelle C. Mathews, PhD, is an Associate Teaching Professor, Director of the MU Child Development Laboratory (CDL), and Advisor for Child Development & Education (CD&E) and Early Childhood Education in a Mobile Society (ECEMS) students. She has over 25 years of experience in early childhood education as a teacher, administrator, advocate, trainer, consultant, grant writer, college instructor, researcher, evaluator, curriculum developer, and assessment coordinator. She received her PhD from the University of Missouri in Human Environmental Sciences in 2006 with a focus on early childhood education. Michelle teaches early childhood courses on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and early childhood technology and coordinates the practicum courses. Michelle is co-author of Their Future is in our Hands: Becoming an Effective Advocate for Early Childhood Education and is past President of the Missouri Association for the Education of Young Children.
