ParentLink GrandFamiliesModern families are ever changing, with traditional two-parent households rapidly diminishing. More and more families are “sharing the caring” with the influence of other adults or assuming the responsibilities of caring on their own.  But, this is what makes you GRAND!

Whether you’re a grandparent, other relative, or loved one caring for another’s child, we are so happy you’re visiting our site!  Please know that you’re not alone and we understand the obstacles AND opportunities for your families.

Central Missouri GrandFamily Network

The Central Missouri GrandFamily Network, the support group for Boone County, meets monthly on the 3rd Thursdays, from 6:00pm-7:30pm at ParentLink (4800 Santana Circle, Columbia, MO 65203). Missouri GRANDFamily Coalition

The Missouri GRANDFamily Coalition is comprised of professionals from various family serving agencies throughout the state of Missouri.  The Coalition is organized for the purpose of supporting GRANDfamilies and providing statewide leadership to this population and:

  • Educating/Disseminating sound information
  • Convening for action on relevant issues
  • Incubating new ideas
  • Serving as a repository for assistance
  • Promoting/Sharing best practices with grandparents/kinship caregivers
  • Developing and increase a diverse relative caregiver leadership base

Project Restore: A Support Group Curriculum on Depression in Grandparents and Other Relative Caregivers

Project Restore

With funding from the Brookdale Foundation, ParentLink created Restore: A Support Group Curriculum on Depression in Grandparents and Other Relative Caregivers.  This 6 lesson curriculum is designed for use in a support group setting and was reviewed by MU Psychiatrist Dr. Laine Young-Walker.  The lessons are as follows: Stress and Relative Caregivers; Defining Depression; Getting Help for Depression, Part 1–Therapies; Getting Help for Depression, Part 2–Medications; Keeping a Healthy Lifestyle and Preventing Symptoms of Depression; and Support Networks.  A DVD of video clips featuring Dr. Young-Walker and local grandparents also accompanies the curriculum.
