Music education (EdS)

This degree is an educational specialist in learning, teaching and curriculum with an emphasis in music education.

This program is part of the Music Education Program housed in the Department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum.

The EdS in music education is a planned program of approved graduate course work beyond a master’s degree. It organized to meet your specific needs as a student and is designed to build upon the foundation laid through previous coursework and teaching experiences.

Degree Requirements

To receive an EdS in music education, you must complete 30 hours beyond a master’s degree. Coursework is comprised of at least 15 hours at the 8000 level or higher. At least half the coursework must be an education course.

Please note that completion of a master’s degree in music, music education, or another closely-related field of study is required for admissions.

A committee of faculty members reviews your application’s credentials. You are not guaranteed admission even if you meet the minimum qualifications.
