Human Subjects in my Research Project

  1. When do I need Human Subject training and/or approval?
    The Campus Institutional Review Board provides training and other resources for developing, submitting and getting approval for Human Subject Protocols for your research project.

  2. If there is more than one investigator on a grant, who must take the IRB training if it involves human subjects?
     It is the responsibility of each investigator on a proposal to ensure he/she has done the training. For more information, please see the IRB section of the Grant Writing Manual on page 7.

  3. If the proposal involves Human Subjects, whose responsibility is it to get IRB approval?
    It is the responsibility of the Primary Investigator to ensure the proposal has IRB approval prior to funding. For more information, please see the IRB section of the Grant Writing Manual page 7.
