Course Descriptions
C&I 8710: Nature of Science and Science Teaching (3 credits). Examines philosophical, historical, and sociological views of the nature of science and implications for science education policy and science instruction.
C&I 8712: Inquiry and the Science Curriculum (3 credits). Examines inquiry as the foundation of the science curriculum. Includes study of exemplary science programs and curriculum materials, and provides models for curriculum development in science education.
C&I 8714: Research in Science Education (3 credits). Studies research methodologies in science education through the analysis of research reports in a variety of science education topic areas.
C&I 8720: Advanced Teaching of Elementary Science (3 credits). Science teaching, learning, curriculum, and assessment in the elementary school.
C&I 8722: Advanced Teaching of Secondary Science (3 credits). Science teaching, learning, curriculum, and assessment in the secondary school.
C&I 8724: College Science Teaching (3 credits). Study of learner characteristics, teaching strategies, and research findings related to teaching science at the post-secondary level. (Crosslisted with BioSci 8724)
C&I 8900: Seminar in Science Education (1 - 3 credits, available for repeated credit). Intensive examination of trends and issues in science education, such as: assessment, science teacher education, technology in science education, history of science education, and science literacy.
C&I 8941: Internship in Science Education (3 credits).
