Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year:  Andrew West

“Andrew’s expertise at helping pre-service and in-service physics teachers to solve problems is demonstrated by the structure and assistance he provides to those facing difficulties. Through Cognitive Coaching strategies, Andrew focuses attention on the problem to be solved and helps teachers develop personal resources to solve future problems. In other words, he helps teachers to become better at solving their own problems, and as a result, their teaching improves. Andrew’s ability to help others through careful listening and penetrating questions is the essence of his expertise as a science teacher educator.”
