Lee Adventure Club meets at Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School, which is located at 1208 Locust. The average enrollment capacity at Lee Adventure Club is 60 children for morning session and 60 for afternoon session. In addition to the Site Facilitator, there are 6 Site Assistants at this site. All of the site assistants are students at the University of Missouri- Columbia.
Lee Adventure Club meets in the school gym. We also have daily access to the playground which has several swings, playground equipment, tether balls, basketball goals and a soccer field. We are also granted occasional access to the Media Center
In the mornings, a parent or an authorized adult must initial the students in on a sign-in sheet. The sheets, printed in weekly increments, have columns for the student's arrival time and for the the initials of the person bringing the student to Adventure Club. A Site Facilitator or Site Assistant will initial in the student in the afternoon; a parent or other authorized adult must initial them out in the afternoon, noting the time that they departed.
We also use a "Where am I?" pocket charts to keep track of the students. The pocket chart has 4 categories: Playground, Cafeteria, Gym, and Home. It is the students' responsibility to change their own name tag when they arrive in the morning and afternoons and when they decide to leave one area for another. They must also inform a staff member when they leave one area for another; we utilize walkie-talkies so that we may communicate with one another and ensure a student's arrival from one area to another.
JOLT: In the afternoons we have a program entitled JOLT, which stands for Jump Start Our Learning Time. Children use JOLT to do homework or increase their reading skills by reading books and magazines, or by playing educational games that focus on spelling and word recognition. Children also have access to electronic equipment including a laptop with educational games, Leapsters, and V-Tech V-Smiles. Finally our clubs provide a fun and interactive activities which keep kids engaged while learning about a variety of subjects including science, math, language arts and social studies.Lee Adventure Club is a fun, safe place for Lee's children to come before and after school. We offer lots of choices for the children, and encourage them to participate in the activities they wish. Some favorite choices are: games in the gym such as "Dogcatcher" and "Leap the Creek". The children also enjoy our Early Release Day activities such as playing carnival games or dress up, only children that are enrolled in the afternoons on the day of the early release may participate. Lee Adventure Club is a place where the children have fun with their school friends in a safe, learning environment.
