Meet Our New Faculty Member
New faculty member Alejandro Morales received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the California State University, Dominguez Hills. He was a Psychology Intern at UC Davis Counseling and Psychological Services where he had the opportunity to provide counseling and psychotherapy to students of color, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) students, as well as first generation college students. His research interests are in the areas of language brokering (i.e., children who translate and interpret), LGBT issues in mental health, and qualitative and mixed methods research with underserved communities.
Dr. Morales is originally from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. He is the second oldest of four children. He has two brothers and one sister. He is also the proud uncle of a five-year old boy named Gabriel and a 9-month girl named Rebecca. He is excited to start his academic career at MU and collaborate with colleagues and graduate students. Alejandro is currently setting up his research team and is interested in working with students who are interested in the areas of immigration, LGBT research, and qualitative and mixed methods. In his spare time, he likes to go to the movie theater, read non-psychology books, and try new cuisines.
