The University of Missouri’s College of Education seeks an entrepreneurial leader to lead the Hook Center for Educational Renewal and District Leadership in efforts to address the most pressing needs of P-20 education in Missouri and nationally. This is an executive staff position reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Education with an opportunity for a faculty appointment.
The Hook Center is an endowed center in the University of Missouri College of Education with a mission to improve the organizational performance of schools through an emphasis on leadership development and use of proven management practices. The Center serves as a collaboration hub for multiple disciplines to increase impact on schools and school reform with a primary emphasis on Kansas City, MO. The Center also leverages the Missouri Partnership for Educational Renewal, which is one of the largest College of Education partnerships with 22 school districts and nearly 200,000 students including rural areas as well as St. Louis and Kansas City.
The Executive Director will: 1) provide leadership through development and implementation of a strategic plan for the Center, 2)build strategic alliances with other organizations across the University of Missouri, Kansas City metro area and the state of Missouri, 3) represent the University of Missouri to internal and external audiences, 4) demonstrate success through development and implementation of initiatives within a large and complex organization, 5) maintain strong relationships to academic programs, and 6) enhance the College of Education’s mission impact through outreach in public schools in Missouri.

The College of Education (CoED) at the University of Missouri seeks to ensure that all graduates are prepared to be culturally competent leaders in an increasingly diverse, global society. This will be accomplished through significant expansion of international and intercultural programs to ensure that all CoED graduates have opportunities for transformative cultural experiences prior to the completion of their degrees.
Therefore, the CoED seeks an innovative and energetic leader to work with CoED faculty/staff to expand international programs and intercultural activities in the college. This collaborative and adaptive professional must promote the development of cultural competence throughout the CoED by facilitating the development of new international and intercultural programs such as student and faculty exchanges, service learning opportunities, international education programs, joint degree programs and collaborations, as well as international and intercultural research.
Position Description: The Director will hold a 12-month, professional staff position in the College of Education (with the potential for a faculty appointment). The Director will be responsible for helping the College to reach its strategic goals of growing international and intercultural activities in locations throughout the world. This person will assist faculty, professional staff and administrators to identify potential partnerships, establish and nurture MOUs with prestigious international universities to promote international education programs, seek funding sources, write grants to support international initiatives, coordinate interdisciplinary collaborations for international and intercultural experiences, and market and promote these opportunities. The Director may teach classes to support program endeavors, on a limited basis. The Director will report to the Associate Dean for Administration, Research and Continuous Improvement.
Required Qualifications: (1) Advanced degree from an accredited institution in fields related to education, international studies, or related disciplines, (2) experience in developing cultural competence in a wide array of individuals, (3)experience with government and university policies regarding cultural and international programs, (4) excellent oral and written communication skills, (5) demonstrated commitment to educational and cultural needs of diverse populations, (6) ability to travel internationally and (7) eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time appointment begins and continue working legally for proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications: (1) Doctoral degree in fields related to education, international studies, or related disciplines (2) successful grant writing experience, (3) experiences studying or working abroad, (4) research experience, and (5) fluency in at least one language other than English.
Starting Date: July, 2012
Salary: Competitive. Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
Support Services- Actively work as part of the Help Desk, logging calls, monitoring calls, and entering call resolutions. Notify end user when support call is closed.
- Manage system user accounts (adds, changes, and deletes), identify security issues, and help develop system wide standards. Maintain applicable records including user lists, user accounts and security, and equipment inventory.
- Act as consultant to clients/end users regarding the installation of software and hardware
- Ensure that hardware, software, and peripherals are properly configured and fully operational.
- Customize, implement and manage call-logging system supporting enterprise wide problem report tracking.
Problem Resolution- Perform standard preventive maintenance and repairs or arranges for the repair of computers and peripherals.

The project director for the Heart of MO-Regional Professional Development Center’s (HOM-RPDC) special education improvement program will be hired to work with RPDC staff, other special education project directors, and other MO Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) supervisors to improve student academic performance. Participating MO school districts include all schools within the HOM-RPDC region as well as others outside the region with special preference given to priority schools as identified by DESE. The special education project director will deliver and support DESE Division of Special Education professional development activities.
This project director will deliver selected professional development modules at or through the HOM-RPDC that have been initiated and/or developed by the Division of Special Education to assist districts/schools in achieving Special Education performance goals.
This project director will collaborate with Heart of MO-RPDC personnel and other personnel associated with the HOM-RPDC.
The project director will collaborate with the University of MO College of Education and other colleges and universities in the region regarding undergraduate and graduate course content preparing teachers and administrators in working with students with disabilities.

The Project Director for the Blindness Skills Program will work with Missouri school districts, families, and students on behalf of students who are blind or visually impaired.The Project Director for the Blindness Skills Program will contact all school districts in the Central region that have eligible students who are blind and visually impaired and offer ongoing support and professional development to increase the performance on statewide assessments by students who are blind or visually impaired. The Project Director for the Blindness Skills Program will give priority schools in the region preference.
The Project Director for the Blindness Skills Program will work to increase the knowledge and skills of school personnel and parents of students who are blind or visually impaired. Training will be provided in assessment techniques unique to students who are blind or visually impaired.
The Project Director for the Blindness Skills Program will work to increase cooperation and collaboration among all services providers to students with blindness and visual impairment within their RPDC region.Hiring Range: $47,291 to $50,000
