Tenure Track Faculty Position in Health Education and Promotion
As part of our recently developed Strategic Plan and our enhanced commitment to research and quality education as an AAU member institution, the University of Missouri (MU) College of Education is committed to continuing its focus on Health Promotion and Education. We are searching for an individual to fill a tenure track faculty position who shares the College’s commitment to quality research, excellent teaching, exceptional service to students and the profession, and to continuous quality improvement in an environment of civility and respect. We anticipate hiring one assistant professor, and hope to pursue additional hires in the upcoming years.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Health Promotion, Health Education, Health Psychology, or a related field by the time of appointment (anticipated September 1, 2013).
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and strong potential for securing external research funding.
- Ability to develop and sustain an independent program of scholarly research.
- Evidence of effective undergraduate and/or graduate teaching.
These positions will be housed in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology (ESCP).

About the College: The College of Education (COE) is ranked among the top doctoral granting colleges of education in the country. Assistant Teaching Professor

The University of Missouri (MU) College of Education is dynamically growing and changing. We are searching for individuals to join our team who share our commitment to teaching excellence, exceptional service to students and continuous quality improvement in an environment of civility and respect. The Department of LTC within the college seeks an individual for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor for a nine month position.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Career and Technical Education, Adult and Continuing Education, Business Education, Human Resource Development or a related field by the time of appointment; ability to teach and advise graduate and undergraduate online students.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with military or veteran services programs; experience teaching at or working with community colleges, corporate training programs, trade union training centers, or other adult education activities.
Responsibilities: This faculty member will develop and/or teach 4 online courses each semester during spring and fall, as well as advise students in the online undergraduate and/or graduate programs. In addition, this faculty member will collaborate with the program coordinator and administrative faculty and contribute to the development and implementation of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Bachelor of Educational Studies (BES) programs, and participate in ongoing improvement activities related to these programs. This individual may also work directly with military and veteran services program personnel on activities related to the CTE and BES programs.

Site Responsibilities
Supervise Children
•Provide on-site supervision for the morning shift and afternoon shift; times dependent on school location.
•Maintain a safe and nurturing atmosphere
•Interact and develop positive relationships with all children
•Organize programming so the children are active, involved, and successful
•Provide and model effective discipline techniques
•Operate the program within licensing, accreditation, and program regulations
Plan & Implement Activities
•Full-time Site Facilitators are expected to work & plan 40+ hours per week: some weekends and nights
•Set schedule & curriculum
•Offer a variety of choices to all age groups
•Organize and implement Jump Start Our Learning Time (JOLT)
•Check-out & utilize clubs on a weekly basis
•Develop or revise club curriculum
•Communicate with staff to foster completion & implementation of daily curriculum
•Plan/work all scheduled CPS’s early release days and Adventure Club’s Full-Day Programs
•Purchase & stock supplies as needed
Supervise/Mentor Staff
•Supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate 5-16 staff persons
•Initiate on-site introduction and training
•Ensure all staff obtain expected training hours
•Ensure all staff are current on TBs & physicals

•Educate staff in regards to licensing & accreditation regulations

Communicate with Parents, School Staff, Adventure Club Administrators, Licensing & Accreditation
•Communicate and develop positive relationships with each
•Ensure parents have received & abide by Parent Handbook policies
•Enforce & follow up on policy violations/infractions
•Post/display/hand out flyers, newsletters, & additional paperwork as needed
•Maintain positive working relationships with the school administration and inform them of activities and/or problems as needed
•Advise & consult with Adventure Club administrative staff as problems, situations, or emergencies arise on site
•Vacation/days off need to be approved by Director and Assistant Director and need to be planned according to program needs & schedule (i.e. days Columbia Public Schools are not in session, staff must still observe the UMC calendar)
•Send monthly summary of accomplishments, activities, & situations to the Director and Assistant Director
•Each semester hold an orientation for parents

•Budget Paperwork: Monthly ledger, receipts, FSD and Adventure Club scholarship attendance forms

•Staff Paperwork: Bi-weekly timesheets, evaluations, Employee Conduct Forms, staffing schedule changes, staff demos, etc.
Committees, Trainings, & Other Meetings
•Standing Committees: Participate in one of four committees: Curriculum, Staff Development, Parent Education, and Community Relations.
•Attend/provide monthly training sessions: Adventure Club will host training sessions. Site Facilitators are required to attend trainings as well as teach training sessions.
•Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
•Staff Meeting: Attend and participate in weekly office staff meetings.
•Special Teams: Will be formed as needed for special projects. The Site Facilitators can volunteer or will be assigned to these teams. Assigned tasks need to be completed; time frames will vary.

Parent Orientation
•Parent orientation is an important tool to ensure parents learn and understand the policies and procedures for the Adventure Club program. Each site will hold 1 parent orientation in August and 1 in January. As parents enroll beyond each orientation you will need to use the parent checklist on an individual basis. The template for the power point presentation for this event is located in network space.
Site Binder Expectations
•All programs are required to compile a program binder that must be completed by January 2012 and items added through May 2012. A binder outline will be provided. The binder will be turned in to the Coordinator for Program Quality and Improvement during the end of the year check in period. This binder will serve as a tool for supporting documentation during licensing, accreditation, DESE, and QRS visits.
Additional Duties
•Site Memory Book: Pictures outlining the year at each site are organized in an 19 school-wide scrapbook. Each site contributes 4 pages on acid-free paper with tasteful art decorations.
•Club Check-in: Clubs are checked out each week (on Monday) to be used at each site. Most clubs are weekly. These clubs are checked in on Friday from 9-10 a.m. Clubs must be stocked, copies of worksheets made and cleaned at check in time. Clubs are to be checked in by Curriculum Committee.
•Communicate with Office Administration: Each Site Facilitator determines when he/she needs to talk with the Director, Assistant Director, Program Coordinators, or Office Manager. Obvious reasons (not limited to, but could include): serious behavior problems with children, uncooperative staff, questions about school policies or conflict with school staff, and upset parents. The Administrative Staff maintains an open door policy; however, Site Facilitators are expected to come with suggestions & ideas for possible solutions after using other available resources (i.e., peers, mentors, problem-solving strategies, etc.).
•Compliance with Licensing & Accreditation Regulations.
•Other duties to be assigned
Requirements
•A Facility Director Certification Request Form indicating approval for facility director for 60+-100+ children from the Department of Health & Senior Services, Bureau of Child Care, transcripts, list of references, and a cover letter must be attached to the University of Missouri application. Contact the Bureau of Child Care at 573-882-9399 for more information on completing and receiving the Facility Director Certification Request Form.
•If hired, continued employment is contingent upon approval by the Department of Health & Senior Services, Bureau of Child Care for Facility Director of the site in which you are placed.
•A completed TB & physical form will be required if offered a position.
•All full-time Site Facilitators will need to complete CPR/1st Aid class & University Orientation program within one month of hire date.
•All full-time Site Facilitators must also achieve CPR/1st Aid Instructor certification within three months of hire date.
•All Adventure Club manuals should be read within the first week of employment.
•If hired, the Family Registry Form must be immediately submitted at the expense of the employee. If you are placed at a school that is under a current grant, you will be required to have a fingerprint test/check. Must pass a Criminal Background Screening; felony convictions and any drug conviction will disqualify a person from working as a Site Facilitator for Adventure Club.Hiring Range: $27,900-$29,500 based on 12 month’s work. This is a school year position with summers negotiable. If do not work summer, go on a leave of absence.
Shift: 6:45 a.m. -6:00 p.m. (varied)
Preferred Qualifications: An Associate’s degree with at least twelve hours of child related coursework, or an equivalent of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Six months of experience in planning programs involving children is necessary. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Adequate experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook email. The ability to be both tactful and flexible, along with the use of good judgment and utilizing common sense when making decisions involving the Adventure Club program is required.

Serious applicants should complete a “Facility Director Certification Request Form”. The form must show certification as a Facility Director for sites with 90 or more children. This complete form will be required before offers will be made. As this form can take several weeks to get back, timeliness is crucial.
