The degrees and graduate certificates offered in the learning technologies program are your portal to excellence and leadership in designing, developing and implementing online, hybrid or face-to-face learner-centered and innovative technology-based learning systems for workforce education, government or military settings, K-12 and higher education. With hands-on projects, you’ll learn to assess learning needs and design and develop learning systems using innovative technologies such as games for learning, and virtual and augmented reality.

We offer:

  • Master’s or an Educational Specialist Degrees, with optional emphasis areas in designing and developing effective Online Learning for any learning setting, or Technology in Schools
  • And for faster credentialing, graduate certificates in Online Education, Serious Games and Simulation Design and User Experience and Usability are available

All courses are 100 percent online. All areas emphasize project-based learning where you learn while working on projects relevant to your interests. You pick the professional goal that makes sense to you, and the LT faculty will help you transform your goal into your reality.

Online Educator Graduate Certificate (2020)

I was a student in the graduate certificate program for online education and received that certificate in the summer of 2020… I retired from Mizzou just as I was finishing the program to accept a position at Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg FL as the Executive Director of Organizational Development. I am also now teaching 2 online courses in our baccalaureate program for Strategic Leadership… I just wanted to tell you that I feel very prepared to teach these courses in this format and thank you and the program for providing me with that background. The certificate program was timely and relevant and I am very grateful!

During the Fall of 2016 our Online Educator Graduate Certificate was endorsed by Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT).

AECT is a professional association of thousands of educators and others whose activities are directed toward improving instruction through technology. Their members carry out a wide range of responsibilities in the study, planning, application, and production of communications media for instruction.

Our educational technology program was rated No. 10 among the top 35 online educational programs. The Best Affordable program rankings are based on a GetEducated Spring 2014 review of regionally accredited online master’s programs in educational and instructional technology. This GetEducated “Best Buy” affordability ranking compares tuition and distance learning fees of 63 online educational and instructional technology master’s programs offered at 56 online universities across the country.
