Mission

The mission of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis (ELPA) is to create knowledge while preparing leaders to critically shape and transform educational issues, policies and practices.

To advance our mission, we educate leaders and lead educators in higher education, PK-12 school and other policy settings.


Vision

ELPA will be a leader and partner in creating and transmitting knowledge that improves the quality of, and equitable access to, educational opportunities.


Strategic Goals

Our strategic goals align with and complement the College of Education’s goals. Our goals guide our continuous improvement efforts and planning to achieve our mission and vision.


ELPA will:

  • Graduate highly effective educational leaders and policy analysts who will work to improve higher education and PK-12 schools;
  • Produce and publicize a distinguished record of research that benefits educational leaders, policymakers and other scholars in higher education and PK-12 schools;
  • Promote an environment that affirms the benefits of diversity, social justice and cultural and global competence;
  • Develop partnerships with leaders and policy makers at the local, state, national and international level.
