College of Education Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities

The College of Education offers a variety of scholarships for students enrolled as education majors, both as undergraduates and graduates. Scholarships are a great way to financially support your education and are awarded to individuals on the basis of any number of criteria, including: financial need, academic achievement, choice of program area, public service, nationality or ethnicity.

Some scholarships are renewable or may be awarded to the same students in succeeding years; however, these awards are based upon continued eligibility with scholarship criteria; grade point average; the contingency of available funds; and a current, completed application that must be submitted each year.  Please note, should a College of Education scholarship recipient change enrollment to another University or another college within MU, the scholarship will be rescinded.

FRESHMAN AND CONTINUING SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES:

2009-2010 Freshman Application for Scholarships:  The freshman application is for students entering Mizzou as a new freshman in fall 2009.   Students must apply for admission to Mizzou as well as complete the scholarship application on or before December 1, 2008Applicants need only fill out this one form to be considered for all College scholarships in which they meet the minimum criteria. 

2009-2010 Continuing Application for Scholarships:  The continuing application is for students currently admitted to and enrolled at Mizzou.  Students must complete the scholarship application on or before February 1, 2009. Applicants need only fill out this one form to be considered for all College scholarships in which they meet the minimum criteria. 

2009-2010 Transfer Application for Scholarships:    The transfer application is for students entering Mizzou as a new transfer student in either summer 2009 or fall 2009.  Students must complete the scholarship application on or before February 1, 2009. Applicants need only fill out this one form to be considered for all College scholarships in which they meet the minimum criteria.

Suzanne Acuff Rhodes, Gail Van Reen Acuff, and Dee Danford Acuff Endowed Fund in Education

Description: This fund to support undergraduate students in the College of Education was established in 2004 by Erwin D. (Dusty) Rhodes, Phil R. Acuff, and John W. Acuff in honor of their wives, Suzanne, Gail and Dee, who are strong believers in high-quality education and instruction for our future teachers.



Bryce Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Family, friends and colleagues established this fund in 2004 in memory of Bryce Allen to provide awards to students enrolled in the School of Information Science Learning Technologies in the College of Education.



Sterl Artley Scholarship

Description: Established by Professor Emeritus A. Sterl Artley, along with friends and colleagues in 1977, this fund supports graduate students entering the department of Curriculum & Instruction. Artley was one of the three authors of the Dick and Jane children¿s primers of the early 1950¿s and was one of the leading experts of reading education.



Neil C Aslin Memorial Fund

Description: In 1977, family and friends established this fund in memory of Dr. Neil Aslin who was at one time Superintendent of the Columbia Public Schools and professor and chairman of the department of Educational Administration in the College of Education. Awards support graduate students in the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.



Doris J Athy Endowment Fund

Description: Established by the Doris J. Athy Trust Fund in 2001, this fund supports students enrolled in the School of Library and Information Science on the University of Missouri campus.



Helen M Barrett Memorial Scholarship in Education

Description: Established under the last will and testament of Helen M. Barrett in 1990, this fund provides financial support to undergraduate and graduate students with high scholastic achievement majoring in education.



Jo Haden Behymer Scholarship Fund

Description: In June of 1986, Wayne and Jo Behymer were married 25 years. As a tribute to their marriage, Wayne established a permanently endowed scholarship fund to support students majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in the College of Education. Jo is a retired faculty member and Alumna of the College of Education.



Dr. Sodienye Bendbow Memorial Scholarship

Description: This fund was established in 1984 in memory of Dr. Bendbow who received his doctoral degree in education in 1978 from the University of Missouri. Dr. Bendbow was a science and math teacher in the U.S. and West Africa where he also served as a secondary school principal with the Nigerian Ministry of Education.



Daniel C Berrey Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: The family of Daniel C. Berrey created this scholarship in honor of their son and brother. The fund was established both as a reminder of Dan¿s love of, interest in, knowledge of and commitment to computer technology and also to the importance of the University of Missouri in Dan¿s life. Daniel Berrey, while an MU undergraduate student, died in 1995 of a sudden allergic reaction to an over-the-counter medication.



Joseph P Blanton

Description: Established from the will of David A. Blanton, Sr. in 1958, and named after Joseph P. Blanton, a relative of David, to help further an undergraduate student's educational development.



Virginia Hultz Booth Memorial Fund

Description: Established in 1985 by a bequest from the estates of Robert J. Booth and Acena Booth, the Virginia Booth Fund supports undergraduate students with high scholastic achievement and good moral character in their pursuit of teaching.



John Homer Bothwell Educational Fund

Description: This award was established in 1931 by the donation of John Homer Bothwell to assist undergraduate education students pursuing their dream of higher education. Bothwell was a well-known Sedalia philanthropist.



Laura Elizabeth Brandt Education Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 2004 upon the death of Laura Elizabeth Brandt in accordance with her last will and testament, this fund provides support to both undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Education.



Issac Hinton Brown Scholarship Fund

Description: This scholarship was started in 1922 by funds provided by the Missouri Women¿s Club of New York City and by Mrs. Edith Brown Smith, daughter of Issac Hinton Brown. It lapsed in 1938 and was re-established by Mrs. Smith in 1950 to support undergraduate female students in the College of Education.



Robert L. Burton Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1988 by friends and colleagues of Robert L. Burton to support graduate students in the department of Educational and Counseling Psychology. Dr. Burton enjoyed 21 years of service to the University of Missouri as Assistant and Associate Dean and professor in the Departments of Education & Counseling Psychology and Higher & Adult Education.



Carol Westerman Campbell Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Established by Thomas Campbell in 1981, this fund supports undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 semester hours at MU and have a demonstrated aptitude and a positive attitude toward the teaching profession.



Mildred Brand Cardwell and her Parents James H. (Huey) and Irene Brand, Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 2001 from the donation of G.C. Cardwell, this fund is in memory of his wife and her parents. Mrs. Cardwell was a 1941 graduate of the College of Education and her father was at one time Superintendent of education in the Crawford County area.



C. Edward & Greta S. Carroll Scholarship Fund

Description: This gift was established in 2001 from the Family Trust of Edward C. and Greta S. Carroll for support of graduate students in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies in the College of Education.



E.M. Carter Missouri State Teachers Association Scholarship

Description: Established in 1984 and amended in 1986 to honor E.M. Carter, former executive secretary of the Missouri State Teachers Association, this fund provides support to undergraduate students who demonstrate superior scholarship and promise as a classroom teacher.



Lucille Marie Cobb Memorial Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1996 through the Lucille Marie Cobb Irrevocable Trust to benefit graduate students majoring in library science in the College of Education School of Information Science & Learning Technologies.



Irv Cockriel Endowed Education Fund

Description: This fund was established in 2000 by friends and colleagues to honor Dr. Irv Cockriel on the occasion of his retirement from the College of Education after 32 years as a faculty leader. This fund honors his years of service and many contributions to the College. Dr. Cockriel was the lead person in the College who created many of the scholarships the college has today.



Dan H. Cockrell Ed.D Dissertation of the Year Award

Description: Dr. Cockrell, along with friends and co-workers, established this fund to provide an annual award to a graduate of MU's Statewide Cooperative Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership for the best dissertation produced the preceding calendar year.



John D. Collier Endowed Scholarship Fund

Description: Endowed by Bonnie Collier in 2004, this fund honors her husband John D. Collier who received a bachelor degree in Education in 1957 and a masters in education in 1961 both from the University of Missouri. The fund supports undergraduate students pursuing degrees in education, with a focus on special education.



Jacob M. & Annie D. Cunningham Education Fund

Description: This fund was established in 2000 by Judith A. Cunningham to honor her parents Jacob and Annie Cunningham who always valued the profession of teaching and the importance of philanthropy. The fund assists future educators in acquiring knowledge to support students for whom learning is difficult because of mental, physical, psychological or cultural challenges.



Flora E. Davidson Fund

Description: Established in 1969 through a bequest from the estate of Flora E. Davison, this fund supports undergraduate students majoring in elementary education in the College of Education.



Carolyn A. Dorsey Minority Fellowship Fund

Description: This fund was established by alumni and friends to honor Carolyn A. Dorsey on the occasion of her retirement in 1995 from the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Professor Dorsey was one of the first African American faculty members in the College and this fund is for the support of minority students in the College of Education.



Loreen Mohler Dorsey Scholarship Fund

Description: Loreen Dorsey established this fund to provide awards to female students in the College of Education who plan to teach first grade.



Velma Bowers Douce Scholarship

Description: Established in 1990 by Dr. Richard Gordon Douce in memory of his mother Velma Bowers Douce, this fund supports students who have a rural background and are dedicated to teaching



Education Alumni Scholarship

Description: Alumni and friends of the College of Education support this general scholarship fund that provides far-reaching support to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Education.



Geraldine K. Fergen Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1971 and amended in 1986 through various donations, this fund supports worthy students enrolled in the department of Special Education. Geraldine K. Fergen was honored by this scholarship after her many years of service to the University of Missouri and Special Education.



John L. Ferguson Scholarship

Description: This fund was established in 1986 by John L. Ferguson to provide awards to graduate students planning a career in school counseling. Ferguson started the Missouri Testing and Evaluation Service, now known as the Assessment Resource Center, where he served as director for 36 years. He also served as a mathematics supervisor at the University Laboratory School prior to being appointed assistant professor of education in guidance counseling.



William H. Fisher and Lennie H. and J. Ephraim Downing Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established 1997 from the trust of Jeannie Vea Fisher in memory of her late husband William H. Fisher and her parents, Lennie H. and J. Ephraim Downing to support elementary education students in the College of Education.



Rev. S.H. Ford Scholarship

Description: This scholarship was established in 1907 through the trust of S. H. Ford of London, England, to support students enrolled in the College of Education.



Robert M. Frank Fellowship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1981 to provide scholarships to graduate students enrolled in the department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum, and supports students in their year of residency for a doctoral degree.



Freshman Talent Scholarship

Description: This is a special scholarship awarded by the University Financial Aid to incoming freshman with a shown special talent.



James A. Gardner Scholarship Fund

Description: Since 1999, this fund has provided support to graduates of Mineral Area College of St. Francois County, Missouri, enrolled in the College of Education who plan to enter the teaching profession.



Robert J. and E. Marlese Gourley College of Education Scholarship Endowment

Description: This endowment was established in 2007 to provide one or more annual awards to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Education with a demonstrated financial need and who exhibit dedication to the mission of becoming a teacher.



Cynthia Diane Hagan Memorial Scholarship

Description: Established in 1986 upon the death of Cynthia Hagan, this fund supports students planning to teach elementary education who have graduated from a high school in Missouri or Kansas. Cynthia was a 24-year-old College of Education alumna school teacher who was killed by a drunk driver on her way to Bible study.



Hardin-Pettit Scholarship Fund in Reading Education

Description: This fund was established in 1982 and revised in 1989 by Dr. Veralee Hardin and Neila Pettit to provide scholarships to graduate students in the department of Curriculum and Instruction who work with students experiencing academic difficulties.



Alta Mae Harness Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1987 by J. Leroy Harness, this fund provides scholarships for outstanding students majoring in mathematics education at the University of Missouri. This was established in memory of his late wife, Alta Mae, who was a math teacher at Hickman High School.



Constance Loraine Hill Memorial Fund in Library & Informational Science

Description: This fund was established by Rhona Williams in 1994 in memory of her mother, Constance, for the benefit of African American students in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies.



Samuel C. Hill Scholarship Fund for the College of Education

Description: Established from the estate of Samuel C. Hill in 1997, this fund provides support to students enrolled in the College of Education who have demonstrated financial need.



Maurice and Janie Hogan Memorial Scholarship

Description: Tim and Rosemary Hogan established this fund in 2004 in memory of Tim's parents, Maurice and Janie Hogan, to support students pursuing a teaching degree in art education with preference to students from Pettis County, Missouri.



Albert Waldo Holman University High School Memorial Award Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1968 by the bequest of $1,000 by Wendell Holman in memory of his son, Albert, who was killed in World War II. The award was originally given to senior students at the University High School, which was operated by the College of Education from 1904¿1979. After the high school closed, the fund was amended to provide awards to incoming freshman.



Helen Ortense Hood Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1979 by Helen O. Hood, a 1923 graduate of the College of Education, this fund provides support to worthy students both in the College of Education and the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri.



Clara Marksbury Hudson Scholarship

Description: This fund was established in 1991 by 1946 education graduate, Clara Marksbury Hudson, to support undergraduate students who exhibit intrinsic characteristics to lead and guide children and who show academic achievement and are good campus and community citizens.



Theo W. H. Irion Memorial Scholarship

Description: This fund was established in 1953 from donations of colleagues, family and friends of Theo W. H. Irion. In 1964, the wife of Theo Irion donated additional money to increase the scholarship amount.



Edwina Diane Jenkins Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1996 by her good friend Robert Twineham, this fund is in memory of Edwina, a 1966 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Education. Recipients must be a junior level student in good academic standing planning a teaching career.



Dr. Sarah Willier Johnson Memorial Scholarship

Description: Established by her husband, Bruce Johnson, this fund provides support for undergraduate students in the College of Education pursuing a teaching degree in early childhood education.



Joseph A. Johnston Research Award in Career Development

Description: Established in 1999 by the donation and pledges of friends and colleagues of Joseph A. Johnston, this fund honors the career development contributions of Professor Johnston by providing support to graduate students in the department of Educational and Counseling Psychology.



Larry Kantner Scholarship Fund

Description: This scholarship was created by donations from family, friends and co-workers of Dr. Larry Kantner in 1988 to honor Dr. Kantner for his many years of service a professor of art education. This fund supports students pursuing a teaching degree in art education.



Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship

Description: This scholarship was established in 1981 by various donors to support education students who are active members of the Kappa Delta Pi organization. The executive council for the organization recommends recipients for this award.



Lois Knowles Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1979 by various donors for the purpose of a fund in recognition of Lois Knowles, a long-time faculty member of the College of Education.



Mary Potter Kunkler Endowed Scholarship Fund

Description: James E. Kunkler, with the support of his daughter, Mary Jane Kunkler Smith, and his granddaughter, Ann Evans Self, established this endowed fund in 2002 in honor of his wife, Mary Potter Kunkler, a 1931 graduate of the College of Education.



Esther Choate Lacey Endowment Fund

Description: Established in 1994 by Larry and Marilyn McMullen in honor of Marilyn¿s mother, Esther Choate Lacey, this fund supports students dedicated to teaching elementary or secondary education.



Dr. Mary Jane Lang Doctoral Scholarship Fund

Description: This scholarship was established in 1985 by Dr. Mary Jane Lang Grundler to support doctoral students in their last year of residency in the College of Education. Dr. Grundler received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Missouri and taught from 1947 until her retirement in 1985.



Dr. Mary Jane Lang Graduate Scholarship Fund

Description: Dr. Mary Jane Lang Grundler established this fund in 1983 to provide support to support graduate students who show academic excellence and professional promise with preference to students in business education.



Nancy & Bill Laurie Scholarship

Description: The Nancy & Bill Laurie Scholarship endowment was established in June 2002 with a gift of $250,000. Eight different schools and colleges were named in the document with the College of Education being one.



Norman & Patricia Lawnick Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established by Patricia in 1985 to honor her husband Norman Lawnick, a longtime physical education professor in the College of Education, to aid students majoring in music education.



Thomas J. & Jeane S. Lawson Graduate Scholarship in Educational Administration

Description: Established in 1993, this fund supports graduate students pursuing a degree in educational administration in the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.



Susan Leddick Scholarship

Description: A. Susan Leddick, a 1970 education graduate, established this award in 1986 to support undergraduates majoring in secondary education.



Mardel & David Lillard Education Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 2001 by David and Mardel Lillard to provide awards to junior and senior students in elementary education. Mardel Lillard is a 1952 graduate of the College of Education and David is a retired civil engineer.



Mary Helen Hill Locaty Memorial Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1989 by Dorothy Hill in memory of her sister, Mrs. Mary Helen Hill Locaty, who received a Bachelor¿s degree in education from the University of Missouri in 1923.



H.H. London Graduate Research Assistantship Fund

Description: Established in 1985 by Dr. H.H. London, and amended in 2000, this fund supports students pursuing a degree in career and technical education in the College of Education.



Friedel C. Maasdorf Foreign Language Scholarship

Description: Established in 1982 and amended in 1986 by the donation of Joachim and Wilette Massdorf, this fund was established in memory of Friedel, who was a longtime foreign language educator.



The Marketing Education Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1984 from various donations, this fund supports students who focus on marketing education students enrolled in the College of Education.



Mamie J. McCormick Graduate Student Fellowship Fund

Description: Established in 1982 by the will of Mamie McCormick and amended in 1986 by various other donors to be an endowed scholarship, this fund provides assistance to graduate students in the College of Education.



Agnes McCreary Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund supports an undergraduate student with demonstrated need for success or encouragement regarding his/her teaching preparation; enrolled in and passed Emergent Literacy course, with preference to students coordinating their field experience through Hallsville Elementary School.



John P. & Eleanor Jeffrey McKay Memorial Scholarship

Description: This fund was established in 1996 by Barbara Hendrich in memory of her parents who were both graduates of the College of Education. The fund supports junior and senior level undergraduates and graduate students in education.



Harry R. McMillan Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1973 by family and friends in memory of Harry McMillian, a graduate of the University of Missouri and a long-time teacher in the Kansas City School system, to support outstanding students in education.



Marilyn Lacey McMullen Scholarship Fund

Description: This scholarship was established by Larry McMullen as a 40th wedding anniversary gift to his wife Marilyn in 1995 to recognize Marilyn¿s appreciation and support of the College of Education, her experience as a teacher and her commitment to the community through volunteer service in various Kansas City organizations.



Meharry Fellowship in Graduate Education

Description: Established in 1997 by Dr. and Mrs. Richard Andrews, dean emeritus, of the College of Education in the memory of Letitia Meharry and her family. The Meharry family was a philanthropic family that donated funds toward the creation of the Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. This medical college was created to allow African American students the opportunity to become doctors and nurses. This scholarship was established to expand on that tradition of the Meharry family to allow African American students the opportunity to pursue higher education.



Alda C. Michel Scholarship Fund

Description: This scholarship was established by the donation of Alda C. Michel in 1983 to support the pursuit of higher education for undergraduate students.



Edward P. Miller Library and Information Science Endowment

Description: The Edward P. Miller Fund, established in 1993, was the second scholarship established by Dr. Miller. He was a professor in the School of Library & Information Science for 12 years, and served as Dean for 10 of those 12 years (1974-1984).



Hazel Hill Miller Memorial Scholarship

Description: Established in 1988 by the family of Hazel Hill Miller who was a 1920 graduate of the College of Education, this fund supports full time students who show academic achievement.



Walter Scott Monroe Research Fellowship Fund
Type: Graduate
Department: All COE
Description: Established in 1978 by the wife of Walter Scott Monroe, Lula Robinett Monroe, this fund is in memory of her husband who earned his doctorate from the University of Missouri in 1911. He was one of the original members of Phi Delta Kappa and wrote one of the first texts on educational research. Monroe was an influential figure in the field of education in the early 1900s and wrote/published many books and articles on the importance of the needs of graduate students in educational research and his extensive experience in counseling and directing such students.



Mary Virginia Morgan Scholarship

Description: The Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) established this fund in 1985 to provide annual awards to students in the College of Education majoring in early childhood education or elementary education.



Music Educators Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1988 by various donors, this fund was endowed to provide annual awards to undergraduate students majoring in music education in the College of Education who are planning a teaching career.



Ben Nelms Scholarship

Description: Various donors endowed this fund in 1986 in honor of Dr. Nelms who was a professor in the College for 20 years. The fund supports students in the College of Education majoring in English education.

Mary Ann Baugher O'Brien Special Education Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 1989 by the donation of Raymond O¿Brien as a surprise anniversary gift to his wife, a College of Education graduate, to support students majoring in special education.



Mary McMullen Packwood Scholarship

Description: This scholarship was established in 1981 to support students in art education by the donation of Mary Packwood who received her undergraduate degree in 1934 and her masters in 1938 from the College of Education. She taught as a college professor at Illinois State and wrote a book ¿Art Education in the Elementary School¿ as well as many articles on art education in professional magazines.



Wantanee Pakarandom Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1985 by various donations in memory of Wantanee Pakarandom who received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 1983. On return to her homeland shortly after graduation, she and her family were killed in the crash of the Korean Airliner in August 1983. The fund was established to benefit other graduate students of reading/language arts in the College of Education.



Ralph H. Parker Endowment for Excellence

Description: The Ralph H. Parker Endowment was created in 1988 and was the first scholarship established by Dr. Edward P. Miller. Dr. Miller was a professor in the School of Library & Information Science for 12 years, and served as Dean for 10 of those 12 years. (1974-1984).



Peabody Scholarship in Education

Vaona H. Peck Freshman Scholarship in the College of Education

Description: Vaona H. Peck, a 1928 graduate of the College of Education, and her husband endowed three scholarships in June 2000. Mr. Peck, a 1928 graduate of Arts & Sciences, also received his masters and Ph.D. at the University of Missouri and served as a faculty member for some time. This scholarship is provided to entering freshman in the College of Education planning a career in teaching.



Vaona H. Peck Sophomore Education Endowment Fund

Vaona H. Peck Junior Education Endowment Fund

Recipients will be designated as ¿Peck Fellows.¿ Students selected to fill the apprenticeships will work under the direction of one or more members of the College of Education faculty.



Pettit-Hardin Scholarship Fund in Memory of Jackie Pettit White

Description: Established in 1982 by Neila Pettit and Veralee Hardin in memory of Neila¿s daughter, Jackie, who died from cancer in 1982. Neila was a longtime professor in the College of Education. Recipients must be graduate students in education who have demonstrated a commitment to work with students experiencing academic difficulties.



Phi Beta Lambda Scholarship

Phi Delta Kappa Graduate Scholarship Fund

Phi Delta Kappa is an education honor society established in 1908-1909 at the University of Missouri.



Phi Delta Kappa Undergraduate Scholarship Fund

Pi Lambda Theta, Alpha Chapter Scholarship Fund

Paul C. Polmantier Memorial Fund

Reys/Bestgen Mathematics Education Scholarship

Robert is a Curator Professor and Barbara is Professor with Distinction in the Department of Learning, Teaching & Curriculum in the College of Education.



Marvellee Michel Ridgeway Scholarship Fund in Education

Description: This fund was established in 1981 and amended in 1989 and 1992 by Marvellee Michel Ridgeway who taught in the College of Education at the University of Missouri for 25 years. The fund provides awards to undergraduate students preparing to become a teacher with initial preference to students in elementary education and next preference to students in secondary education.



Ruth Tandy Royse Fellowship in Library Science

Description: This fund was established in 1971 by the donation of Ruth Tandy Royse, a 1916 graduate of MU. Mrs. Royse was a former student who worked in the University of Missouri library and wanted to study library science but the school had not been established. After the school was established, she worked with the Dean to provide the first scholarship gift to the School of Library and Information Science. Since then, her family has added to this gift in her memory.



John Rufi School Administrators Fund

Description: Established in 1962 and revised in 1985, this scholarship was created through the transfer of assets from the John Rufi Recognition Loan Fund. Funds are used to pay graduate research assistants for students preparing for a degree in administration and supervisory leadership.

Herbert Schooling Fund for Leadership in Higher Education

Description: Established in 1983 and amended in 1986 by various donations. Herbert Schooling served as Dean of the College of Education from 1963¿66, served as Provost of the University of Missouri and served as Chancellor from 1972¿78.



Jolene Marra Schulz Scholarship Fund

Description: Jolene Schulz established this scholarship in 2005 for the purpose of providing need-based scholarships to undergraduate students in the College of Education, with first preference to graduates of a high school in Boone or Macon County, Missouri.



Carl & Emily Schutz Art Education Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 2007 by Robert and Kathy Unrath in memory of Kathy¿s parents, Carl and Emily Schutz, who inspired her art education career at MU. Carl and Emily Schutz were great supporters of the arts and believed that the arts should be an integral part of every child¿s education. The fund provides awards to students majoring in art education in the College of Education.



College of Education Sesquicentennial Scholarship Fund

Robert C. Shaw Education Fund

Description: Friends and colleagues of Dr. Robert C. Shaw established this fund in his honor upon his retirement from the University of Missouri in 2000, after nearly a fifty-year career as an educator in Missouri. Dr. Shaw served as a mentor and role model for two generations of school leaders. This fund honors his years of service and many contributions to the College of Education and education across the state by providing awards to graduate students in the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.



Le Roy DeHart Smithers and Rosalie Cousins Smithers Scholarship in Education

John H. and Pamela A. Stahl Undergraduate Scholarship Fund

Description: This fund was established in 2005 by the Stahls to provide need-based scholarships to undergraduate students in the College of Education. Preference is given to freshman and transfer students who have earned an AA degree prior to enrolling at MU.



Emily Larsen Stoll Memorial Scholarship Fund

Description: Established in 1997 by the family and friends of Emily Larsen Stoll, a College of Education student who died in a one-car accident on May 16, 1997, this fund honors Emily's memory by assisting students in fulfilling her dream of becoming an educator. Emily fell asleep at the wheel on her way home from the University of Missouri after completing her freshman year.



Gertrude Strickler Memorial Fund

Ralph K. & Lois L. Watkins Scholarship Fund

Dorothy J. Watson Fellowship Fund

Description: Dr. Dorothy Watson, a professor in the College of Education, established this scholarship fund in 1995 after she received the Kemper Award for Excellence in Teaching. Sharon Willis Memorial Prize

Description: This fund was established in 1979 from various donations in memory of Sharon Willis who was a faculty member in the College of Education when she died suddenly in 1977. Her family requested that a scholarship be created in her memory and the College of Education solicited the donations from faculty, friends, staff and alumni to support students in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies.



General Federation of Women's Clubs of Missouri Special Education Scholarship

Bob G. Woods Scholarship

Woods, dean of the College of Education from 1966-1986, this scholarship supports graduate students pursuing a career in school administration. Woods also served at the University of Missouri as an associate professor in Secondary School Curriculum and as professor and associate dean.



Verna Wulfekammer Art Education Doctoral Fellowship
