NATIONAL RANKINGS

The MU College of Education is consistently ranked among the top colleges of education in the nation. In 2008, MU’s College of Education ranks 23rd of all public university members of the prestigious Association of American Universities according to U.S.News & World Report

MU’s Counseling Psychology program in Counseling Psychology / Personnel Service is ranked 6th in 2008.

OTHER AWARDS

  • MU graduates who are first year teachers rated 11% stronger in performance than their peers, according to an evaluation completed by 1,800 Missouri principals (As reported in data from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s First-Year Teacher Survey, 2007).

  • MU’s Administration and Supervision Program in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis is ranked 13th nationally by U.S.News & World Report, 2008.

  • MU’s Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology is ranked 6th nationally by Academic Analytics, 2006–07.

  • MU’s Mathematics Education program was identified by peer institutions as a strong doctoral program. The University of Missouri ranked fourth; the top five national programs for the preparation of mathematics education doctoral students include: University of Georgia, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, University of Missouri and University of Wisconsin. This ranking was prepared by institutions of higher education that prepare doctoral students and was reported in the November 2007 journal edition of Notices of the American Mathematical Society.

  • MU’s Library Science program ranked seventh in the United States for faculty productivity in a study published in the journal Library & Information Science Research, 2006.

  • The University of Missouri was selected because of its Educational Leadership Statewide Cooperative EdD program to participate in the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate. MU is one of the 22 institutions from across the U.S. that was selected to participate.

FUNDING

  • Known for our cutting-edge research, the college has averaged $20,280,094 in externally funded research grants over the past five years.
  • In the area of research expenditures, we show a 525% increasebetween FY2001 and FY2005, from $646,000 to $3.39 million.
  • In the area of instruction and public service we show a 128% increase across the same time period from $10.5 million to $13.4 million. (The College of Education leads all other academic units on campus in this area of instruction and public service)
