Secondary Mathematics Education
Degree Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics leads to certification in grades 9-12 in the state of Missouri. Students become masters of their content through diverse math classes, learn pedagogy and teaching strategies for math through education courses, and put both into practice through field experiences.
The program encompasses four phases:

Admission Requirements
- GPA requirements
- 2.5 GPA with less than 30 credits completed
- 2.6 with 30-59 credits completed
- 2.75 with 60+ credits completed
Degree Requirements
Additional Coursework required for Entry into Phase II for Secondary Mathematics majors:
- Math 1500 (Calculus I)
- Math 1700 (Calculus II)
- Math 2300 (Calculus III)
- With a combined GPA of 2.5 for the above 3 courses

- Students new to MU can find information on applying to the University here.
- Information regarding application to Phase II is provided through email when enrolled in TDP 2000 and/or 2040.
Fees and Financial Aid
MU is an affordable place for all students there are a variety of federal financial aid programs, along with assistance from the University. The College of Education also offers scholarships for its undergraduate students.
