Middle School Science Education
Degree Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Middle School Science leads to certification in grades 5-9 in the state of Missouri. Students become masters of their content through diverse science classes, learn pedagogy and teaching strategies for science through education courses, and put both into practice through field experiences.
As with all Middle School Education degrees in Missouri, the BS in Middle School Language Arts allows students to pick a second option area for certification. Options include: Art (K-9), Math, Science, and Social Studies.
The program encompasses four phases:

Admission Requirements
- Students are automatically admitted to Phase I with admittance to the University
- Application for Phase II occurs in the spring of your Sophomore year. Criteria for admission include:
- Overall MU GPA (at least 2.75 with 60+ credits completed)
- Scored on the College Base Exam
- Related Experience

Degree Requirements
It is recommended to have begun your science coursework such as Chemistry 1310 and Biology 1500.

- Students new to MU can find information on applying to the University here.
- Information regarding application to Phase II is provided through email when enrolled in TDP 2000 and/or 2040.
Fees and Financial Aid
MU is an affordable place for all students there are a variety of federal financial aid programs, along with assistance from the University. The College of Education also offers scholarships for its undergraduate students.
