Secondary Education

high school teacher

Mizzou's Secondary Education Program leads to teacher certification at the High School level, which includes grades 9–12.

Secondary Education majors select one subject area they wish to teach. Your coursework at Mizzou is tailored to your emphasis choice. Many students elect to additionally obtain Middle School certification (grades 5–9) while at Mizzou.

Your subject courses are taught by faculty in other MU departments on campus, such as English and Biology, and your education courses are taught by faculty in the College of Education. Graduates become subject matter experts and learn to effectively teach that subject to all learners.
