Cross -Categorical
The Cross-Categorical progams all lead to K-12 Cross-Categorical Certification in Missouri. Students will gain knowledge through field experiences and instruction on the characteristics and instructional needs of learners with cross-categorical disabilities, assessment strategies for monitoring instruction, diversity, transitions, and the contexts that affect student learning.
Students who graduate
from this program will be prepared for direct roles with students, eg.,
classroom teacher, resource teacher, class within a class teacher. They will gain Missouri certification in K-12 Cross-Categorical Special Education.
Upon completion of the degree, graduates are certified to teach
students with mild disabilities (i.e., learning disabilities,
emotional/behavior disorders, mental retardation) and are certified to
teach all grades K-12. The MA is tailored towards students seeking further research in the field.
