Special Education Programs
The Department offers Bachelor's, Master's, Specialists, or Doctoral degrees and coursework in the following areas:
- Early Childhood Special Education
- Cross Categorical
- Curriculum Development for Learners with Disabilities
- Learning Disabilities
- Behavioral Disorders
- Gifted Education
The Department also offers the following degree options
- Masters of Education with an emphasis in Learning and Instruction
- Teaching Fellow Program Special Education
- On-line master degrees in Gifted Education and Early Childhood Special Education
Undergraduate
The undergraduate cross-categorical program leads to a BSEd and Missouri K-12 Cross-Categorical certification. Students who graduate from this program will be prepared for direct roles with students, eg., classroom teacher, resource teacher, class within a class teacher.
Masters
The Department of Special Education offers several unique Master Degree Programs. Each Master Degree Program is in accordance with Graduate School policies and follows the Masters Student Handbook.

Doctoral
The department of Special Education supports numerous emphasis areas at the Doctoral level. Currently these include: Behavioral Disorders, Early Childhood Special Education, and Learning Disabilities. Specific doctoral programs are developed individually with each student in adherence with the Graduate School policies and the Department of Special Education Doctoral Student Handbook.
