MU’s Library and Information Science (LIS) emphasis area is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to excellence in librarianship. We offer a student-centered curriculum that is designed to provide an educational experience that challenges students to develop their creativity, curiosity, and flexibility in order to prepare for positions of professional leadership and to contribute professionally and personally to the information society.The LIS program is your path to creativity, research, and professional accomplishment. You will learn the skills necessary to navigate the rapidly changing information environment and bring together people with technology and content to meet the challenging information needs of the 21st Century. Our goal is to prepare you to be a knowledgeable and ethical professional capable of working with a variety of audiences in a wide range library and information service agencies.

Accreditation
MU’s Library and Information Science emphasis area is the only Master’s Degree in the state of Missouri to be fully accredited by the American Library Association. Our program will provide you with the credentials, skills and knowledge required by today’s top library and information employers.
