Please participate in our Online Survey.

The study is being conducted by Dr. Glenn Good, Professor at the University of Missouri, who specializes in research on men and masculinity and most recently men in non-traditional careers.

The current study seeks to add to our understanding of what obstacles remain for men in the elementary education profession as well as more generally evaluating life and career satisfaction among male teachers. We estimate that participation in the study will take about 12 minutes of your time and will add to this important area of research.  As noted in the consent form, the project has been approved by the IRB (Institutional Review Board) of the University of Missouri-Columbia.

The MMEET scholars attend monthly seminars to discuss texts, such as the book Raising Cain, and to write and share about classroom experiences. Guest speakers provide additional perspectives. At the January, 2008 meeting Jim Hogan, retired Columbia Public School teacher and current Success Coach, spoke of his years teaching and his current role as working one-on-one with students to support them in being successful at school.

Participants in the MMEET program are preparing presentations to share with other groups. If interested, contact Roy Fox (foxr@missouri.edu) or Amy Lannin (lannina@missouri.edu).
