Welcome to Elementary Education

elementary classThe Elementary Education Program at the University of Missouri includes degree programs that focus on preparing graduates to teach students in grades one through six. Current degree programs include: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction (emphasis area Elementary Education), and Educational Specialist, and Doctoral (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) degrees.

Due to the innovative nature of our programs, our undergraduate enrollment has doubled in the past 6 years. Undergraduate students spend an intensive year in elementary classrooms (called the Senior Year On Site Program). Many of our undergraduates continue their education through involvement in the nationally-recognized Fellows program.

Our mission is to prepare reflective professionals who use research-based instructional strategies to better the learning of all students.
