Welcome to the University of Missouri’s Statewide Cooperative EdD Program in Educational Leadership. This program’s major purpose is to enhance the knowledge and competencies of educational leaders so they provide optimal leadership for the education of all learners, both youth and adults.
The program is unique in several ways:
- It is cooperative: The Program is delivered by five Missouri partner institutions of higher education: Missouri State University, Northwest Missouri State University, Southeast Missouri State University, the University of Central Missouri, and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
- It is interdisciplinary: The Program serves educational leaders in various settings in PK-12, higher education, and business and industry.
- It is practice-based: The Program is designed to serve the learning needs of practicing professionals, drawing on and contributing to their practice-based knowledge and experience.
- It is highly regarded: The EdD Program is one of 22 programs nationwide that are currently participating in the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate, a nation-wide initiative, sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, to redesign the educational practice doctorate.
- It is effective: 92% of Cohort 5 students who began the program in 2005 reported job promotions and/or increased job responsibilities while enrolled in the EdD; 97% of students have stated that they would definitely refer prospective students to the program because it is of high quality, promotes excellent leadership skills, encourages personal growth, and provides a beneficial experience in collaboration.
